Thetford Grammar School pupil Alana Wilson won gold at the Norfolk Schools Athletics Championships.

The Year Nine pupil won gold in the javelin at the event, which was held at the University of East Anglia Sportspark in Norwich.

Alana’s throw of 34.83m was enough to earn first place in the junior girls category and seal a place on the Norfolk team for this Sunday’s Anglian Schools Athletics Championships, which are also being held in Norwich.

She has already thrown the English Schools Athletics standard and is hoping to secure a place to compete at the English Schools Athletics Championships in Gateshead later this year.
