Almost 300 athletes took part in the annual Breckland 10km Road Race which starts and finishes in Croxton village and takes in many of the country roads that head out towards East Wretham.

With the majority of Thetford Athletics Club members assisting in the organisation and marshalling of the race, most Thetford athletes register a time over the same course on a separate day.

This left the home interest in the hands of Under-17 athlete Charlie Stone, who completed the 10 kilometre course in 40.36 and secured 21st position overall.

The Breckland 10k was won with something to spare by Ash Harrell in a time of 32.47 with Robert Chenery from Ipswich Jaffa in second place with 34.19 while Rafal Wosiek finished was third in a time of 35.40.

The first woman to cross the finish line was Cat Cummings of Wymondham AC who came home in a time of 40.17 for 18th position. Visit www.thetford-ac.co.uk for more on the race.
