Reserve team manager Kevin Lawes also brought in new players so that both teams look to have good squads. Training has been well attended and several friendly matches have seen good results in the build-up to the new season.

The first team had a good win away to Easton 4-0 and was just the start in Anglian Combination Division Three they needed, with goals from Rob Simms, Chris Bray, Paul Milekzek and Craig Skipp. Unfortunately a 5-2 reverse at home to Blofield followed, with Milekzek scoring again and Ben Chase notching a fine individual goal.

Perhaps this was a wake-up call for what is a good squad of players, who have worked hard pre-season and will do well.

The reserves started with three straight wins which is no more than manager Kevin Lawes deserves after such a difficult end to last season.

An 8-0 win at home to Easton Reserves was the highest win for several years. Goals from Ellis Williamson, Tom Catchpole, Danny Fowler, James Dean and Darren Goodley, and a hat-trick from Ben Chase secured a great result.

Next up a difficult away game at Scole Reserves resulted in a 2-1 win with goals from Ian Hamshaw and Dean.

Finally the long trip to Hemsby last Saturday, saw a third win by 8-2.

A hat-trick from Dean and five from Goodley meant the team sit proudly top of Division Six.

But, of course, both sides are well aware that it's early days and many months of hard work need to follow if both teams are to achieve success at the end of the season.

The generous sponsorship of Lomax Technical Services (Andy and Karen Debenham) means the teams are wearing new kits, both in the traditional green and white colours.

An excellent response to advertising in the club programme sees an even better publication this season extending to four extra pages, all in colour.

Further improvement to the floodlights is in progress as the club looks to push for senior status, which is so needed given the renewed enthusiasm in the Harling Colts teams where seven age groups will figure this season.
