Thetford Ladies travelled to Lowestoft Railway with 10 players and they fought hard to make sure there was no let-up, rattling the opposition into losing their composure.

There were some promising early efforts from Thetford as Lowestoft quickly lost the

advantage of first push-back and Karen Hodgkinson and Tracey Newman began driving down the right-hand side, but an effort from Lowestoft rewarded them with a goal a few minutes into the game. Shrugging it off, Sarah Nichol and Karen Spiller made incredible efforts on the left to win possession and keep some lovely passing going.

The whole of the pitch was used, with midfield making some lovely taps back to defensive players, Sophie Kelly and Chris Church, to move the ball around.

Davina Rolph made Herculean efforts in the centre, backing up and pushing forward and marking players out of the game.

Angela Sharpe, on her debut in goal, made a tremendous effort to keep the ball out of the goal.

In the second half, Nichol ramped up her pace, extended her reach and shut down all Lowestoft's play down their right.

If anything, Thetford looked tighter as a team, fitter and more ready for the hard work than their opposition.

They were rewarded when Hodgkinson made a fine run and shot the ball into the D to find Kathy Hammond, who volleyed the ball into the goal for a final 1-1 scoreline.

Rudling and Wakelam player of the match: Sarah Nichol.
