Bury II 0, Thetford Town Men 1

THETFORD Men's hockey team travelled to Bury this week in their last friendly fixture before the season starts on Saturday.

Bury are one division higher than Thetford so Town expected a tough encounter and were not disappointed.

A youthful and dynamic Bury side were quick to pass the ball around and the town duo of Harper and Snow doing 50-yard shuttles to keep up with the game.

Bury's final ball let them down and this enabled Thetford to string together some flowing hockey between Thompson and Scott.

The heat started to show in the second half and the fitter Bury team started to bring the game to Thetford only some on-the-line heroics from Avery and Skitmore kept Town alive.

A short corner was awarded late in the second half and Godbold rounded two and slipped past the ball wide of the keeper to put Thetford ahead.

Town entertain UEA on Saturday at 3pm.
