Full field of cyclists

There was a full field for Cycling Breckland's open 10-mile time trial last Wednesday including three tandems, three tricyclists and five women.

Breckland's tandem pair of Don Saunders and 11-year-old grandson Declan Davis were first to leave the start timekeeper and were delighted to finish with another personal best time of 23 minutes 38 seconds.

There was a full field for Cycling Breckland's open 10-mile time trial last Wednesday including three tandems, three tricyclists and five women.

Breckland's tandem pair of Don Saunders and 11-year-old grandson Declan Davis were first to leave the start timekeeper and were delighted to finish with another personal best time of 23 minutes 38 seconds. J Izatt and P Arnold, who ride for API were fastest of 19:20.

Clubmate Laura Gambling, who recently got under the hour for the first time in an 25-mile event, recorded 24.19 to come second lady to Emelie Fisher Elmy Cycles), 23.01.

Espoir Will Dorsett (North Norfolk Wheelers) turned in a cracking ride of 21:25 to win the main event, beating API rider Geoff Frost's 21.27 and leading his clubmates P Bailey and K Read to a winning team time of 1-7:53.

Fastest Breckland rider was Chris Nudds in sixth place at 21.58, followed by Ray Turner 23.08, Mark Fairhead 23.54 (pb), Tony Reynolds 24.52 and Bob Day 25.25.

A large group of riders, members of CC Breckland and Norwich Amateur BC, left for Brittany on Friday morning for a long weekend of randonneur rides with their French hosts.
