BRANDON Town showed continued improvement as they comfortably dealt with St Andrews and kept their first clean sheet of the season.

Chances were scarce in the opening exchanges and the home defence showed a calm authority as Procopio and Sims appear to be forming a steady partnership. Town's first opportunity fell to Peckham but his effort went just wide.

Five minutes later Brandon scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game. Fowler's far-post corner was nodded back across the goal by Sims and Peckham headed the ball in through the crowded area.

Brandon enjoyed a strong period and Waites saw his effort hit a post and Croucher followed up but hit the ball straight at the keeper.

Waites was unlucky to see another effort fall victim to the vagaries of the pitch that has suffered due to the dry conditions.

St Andrews were fortunate to still be in the game at half-time and showed a renewed vigour in the second period.

For all their increased work rate they still did not seriously test the defence and Hovell had his quietest afternoon in the Town goal. Overall, it was an accomplished performance that showed the team is progressing.

Brandon Reserves enjoyed their first victory of the season as they defeated Attleborough Reserves 6-2. The goals came courtesy of Paul Layton, Shaun Field, Craig Winstone and a hat-trick from Josh Vaccaro.
