THETFORD Dolphins Swimming Club took part in the first round of the Suffolk Summer League held at Lowestoft in Suffolk and finished in a fabulous second place with 189 points.

THETFORD Dolphins Swimming Club took part in the first round of the Suffolk Summer League held at Lowestoft in Suffolk and finished in a fabulous second place with 189 points.

The squad did exceptionally well to achieve eight first places, 13 seconds and eight thirds on the night as well as a new age group club record.

Eleven-year-old Taylor Dean smashed the club record for the 50m freestyle race in the fantastic time of 32.40, where he finished in a fine second place in the 12/U age group. Swimming in 11/U age group Taylor finished second for the 50m free, 50m fly race and fourth for the 50m backstroke race.

Thirteen-year-old Ben Kleinau swam brilliantly on the night by winning three events (100m individual medley, 100m breast and 100m free). Thirteen-year-old Matthew Vertigans finished in a terrific first place for the 100m backstroke and second for the 100m fly race.

Swimming in the 11/U age group Murray Burt (11) won with ease the 50m breaststroke race and then swam up to the 12/U age group where the youngster finished in a fine second for the 50m fly, third for the 50m back and fourth for the breaststroke race. Murray teamed up with Taylor, Ben and Matthew where the quartet finished in a superb first place for the 11/12 freestyle relay and second for the medley relay.

Rhys Vertigans teamed up with Luke Colling, Taylor and Murray for the 10/11 relays, where the foursome stormed into a wonderful first place for both the freestyle and medley race.

The last race of the night finished with the 8x25m cannon relay race where the squad of Fiona, Luke, Elle, Taylor, Victoria, Morgan, Sadie and Ben finished in a wonderful third place.
