Thetford 6 Harleston IV 2

DAWN HEAVEY led the way with a hat-trick as Thetford played excellent hockey in a convincing home win.

Fielding a full side for the second time this season, Thetford were unstoppable with a mix of quick and accurate passing, good marking and strong tackling.

Heavey scored first the first two goals, her second a neat reverse stick into the net. Kathy Hammond reacted during a goalmouth scrabble to get the third.

Magpies made some breakaway runs down their right, straight into player of the match Alena Sweigart, who was exceptional in defence, closing down play and making good passes up field. Magpies converted a short corner for their first goal.

In the second half, Heavey completed her hat-trick and Sophie Wheeler scored the final two. For the first she had plenty of time to make sure of the goal – and her second bounced off her stick into the net. Heavey had a fourth goal disallowed, before Magpies got their second.
