THE festive fixtures break gives an opportunity to review the Crown Fire Central and South Norfolk season so far and to look at where the honours are likely to fall.

The league table is deceptive and, in terms of points dropped, the race for the league championship appears to be between last year's Division Two champions, Dickleburgh, Bridgham United, Gressenhall and Shipdham with the former in pole position given that they have only dropped nine compared to the other three which have dropped 12 points.

At the other end of the table, the relegation places (if full relegation is applied) are likely to go to Rockland United and Yaxham. The latter would be quite a shock given Yaxham's past record as the league's most successful club ever with seven league championships.

Thetford Rovers Reserves have the current advantage in Division Two, having dropped only three points, although it is very much tighter than Division One with up to eight teams still in the race for the two promotion places.

Of those, Tacolneston have the best record with only

10 points dropped but they could be pressed hard by West End, Wymondham Town A, Morley Village and Bunwell A.

The three other teams which appear to be in with a good shout are Shropham United, Nostro and Necton Reserves

At the other end of the table, Hingham Reserves and Saham Toney Reserves seem to be under most threat.

The third division already looks to rest between Bradenham Reserves and three of the teams promoted from Division Four last year.

Bradenham and Northwold S&SC are leading the pack, having dropped only three points but have Castle Acre Swifts breathing down their neck only two points adrift, closely followed by last year's Division Four champions, Hethersett, a further four points adrift.

Sporle appear to be the only other team in real contention at this stage. Great Cressingham, Shipdham Reserves and Hindolveston are in most danger of relegation.

Favourites for the Division Four title have to be current leaders Splitz United who go into the new year with the only 100 per cent record.

Their nearest challengers are Thurton & Ashby who have lost only once and Breckland Wanderers who are nine points adrift. Rampant Horse, Methwold Rovers, Stoke Ferry and Narborough Reserves could all make a challenge for promotion but need to be more consistent in the second half of the season. The bottom two spots look to be between Colkirk, Shropham Reserves, Scarning and Beetley.
