Thetford Sunday continued their winning start to the season with a 29-run victory over Swaffham.

Thetford won the toss and decided to bat on a good wicket, but were soon in trouble when Nicky Shepherd went in the first over and then Karl Harris fell shortly after.

With the score at 17-2 Liam Conroy came to the crease and made his intentions known early on by hitting a six off the fourth ball of his innings.

With good support from Mark Hudson the score moved swiftly on to three figures.

Hudson eventually fell for 26 but Conroy continued to pile on the runs and eventually reached his first century in senior cricket.

With Andy Kerling falling for 16 and then Matt Wabe without troubling the scorers, Conroy was joined at the crease by younger brother Ryan.

They put on an unbroken partnership of 60 to close the innings on 243-5, Ryan Conroy finishing 15 not out and Liam Conroy finishing on an immense 155 not out - which included 19 boundaries.

Chasing 244 Swaffham were soon in trouble when Howling was run out off the first ball and when Walsh was caught by Wabe, Swaffham were toiling at 15-2.

Dale and Eagle put on a fine third wicket partnership of 128 before both players were bowled by Liam Conroy in the same over.

M Dye then smashed a quick 34 but his wicket falling to a fine delivery by Lewis Grayson signalled the end of Swaffham's hopes of a successful run chase, and with the tail moving the score on to a closing 214-7 Thetford ran out comfortable 29-run winners.

Liam Conroy's figures of 4-37 capped off a memorable personal performance with both bat and ball.
