SAHAM TONEY came away from Sheringham with a losing draw in a match that should have produced so much more.

After a flying start from the Sheringham openers, W Dyer and W Smart took two wickets apiece to leave the hosts 55 for four. S Mower and I Lovick then bowled 24 overs between them and claimed three for 60 to stem the run rate. S Mower claimed one for 43 off his 12 while I Lovick bowled an excellent spell of 12-4-17-2. At 109 for six, Sheringham were let off the hook and in a disappointing final few overs, which saw catches dropped, they reached 181 for nine off their 46 overs. W Dyer, bowling for the first time in four weeks since injury, produced an excellent spell claiming two for 39 off 12 overs. W Smart claimed 3-71.

In response, Saham never got going, as wickets fell at regular intervals. M Wood (27) and W Dyer (25 not out) were the only batsmen to make half-decent contributions as Saham batted out their overs, reaching 119 for eight off 46 overs.

Special mention must go to Harry Brown, who batted out the final overs with W Dyer. For the hosts, T Wadu claimed 2 for 25 and J Taylor three for 15.

This week Saham have two home games when they entertain Norwich and Coltishall Wanders on Saturday in the league and Fakenham in the cup on Sunday.
