Thetford were unable to capitalise on some excellent moves in the first half as they lost 5-1 at home to Bury St Edmunds III in East League Division 4NE.

The more experienced Bury side were able to contain Thetford’s attacks and launch effective counters of their own.

Dan Gidney, Trevor Mcintosh and William Rolfe all made valuable contributions as Thetford rotated their subs while the visitors’ keeper was kept busy and made several outstanding saves.

After going 2-0 down the hosts managed to convert a penalty corner as Reece Laffar’s shot rebounded to Andrew Smith whose shot came back for Josh Laffar to sweep home. Kieren Allen then made a spectacular save for Thetford when Bury were given a penalty stroke.

The second half continued in a similar vein, with the hosts applying plenty of pressure, but the finishing wasn’t there and Bury scored another three.
