BRANDON managed to carry their good form with them from the previous week's victory over Nowton with a well-deserved victory at home against a depleted Rougham side.

They hope to continue this good form for this weekend when they host Woolpit Academy.

Winning the toss again, Brandon chose to bat first on wicket that offered very little for bowlers, and lost Briston (1) very early on.

Some very tight bowling restricted the home side to only 18 runs off the first 10 overs, and with three wickets down, Carl Smith came to the wicket looking for runs, and put on a good partnership with Finchy (35 not out) of 75 for the fourth wicket.

After playing some big shots, Smithy departed for a well-fought 46, and the tail failed to wag this week to leave Brandon with a below-par total of 128.

Most of the credit has to go to Finchy for batting right through the innings from first ball to last in the hot conditions, with a very patient but crucial score of 35 not out.

With the wicket similar to the week before, Palmer opted to open with spin again at both ends alongside Deon Briston, who recorded his best figures so far for Brandon.

With the bowling and fielding again being first class, the Rougham batsmen were restricted to a low score of just 34, after playing with only nine men. Briston had bowled an almost perfect line and length to claim a superb return of 4-14 from six overs, Palmer claiming 3-20.

The victory was well deserved, and improvement from the newer, younger members of the team has been excellent to see.

Brandon thank Omar Homes for being their sponsor this season.
