Brandon will hope to keep their rich vein of form going when they visit lowly Sheringham this Saturday.

Brandon Town 2, Mattishall 1

BRANDON Town earned a hard-fought victory over a Mattishall side unbeaten since early November.

The visitors' direct approach meant Birch and Williams had plenty of heading practice.

Town looked to feed Proctor and Bethell down the flanks. Roy Bland continued his long rehabilitation from serious injury with an excellent all-round performance.

Edwards fed the ball through and Bland's early shot left the keeper flat-footed to open the scoring.

Town then increased the tempo and enjoyed good pressure but could not add to their goal tally.

The second half began ominously for Town as Mattishall came out looking to dominate.

The first decent possession of the half saw Proctor steal the ball on the wing. He threaded the ball through to Waites who rounded the keeper and passed the ball into an empty net.

Mattishall showed plenty of determination and eventually got a goal back with 20 minutes remaining when a loose ball was knocked home, amid claims of a high boot.

A minute later Waites missed a golden chance to restore the two-goal advantage. Mattishall pressed for an equaliser but poor finishing saw an open goal missed in injury time.

w Brandon Reserves won 4-2 at Hindringham Reserves, the goals coming from Josh Vaccaro (2), Craig Winstone and Simon Wal.
