BRANDON Town moved up to fourth in the table after overcoming Holt United with a strong second-half showing earning them a 3-1 victory.

The first half was a poor spectacle and both teams were struggling with a gusting wind.

Brandon carved out a few openings but the final touch eluded them while the visitors' chief threat came from Thompson's long throw.

Town took the lead on 21 minutes when Corston's clearance was collected by Waites. He found Peckham who finished neatly to give the keeper no chance.

Wright had a good opportunity to double the lead but the keeper blocked his effort.

Some poor defending in injury time saw Moore head home unchallenged from close range to level matters at the break.

The second half saw Brandon show more determination and they were denied a penalty when the ball was handled.

Waites put Town back in front from the spot after he was brought down in the area just before the hour mark, bringing his tally to 12 for the season.

Town were in the ascendency but they did not find a third goal till late on. Brown crossed to Wright whose sweet strike beat Goff.

A solid performance for three points against a Holt team who it was a pleasure to entertain. This week sees the team travel to Hindringham, 2pm kick-off.

Brandon Reserves produced a good second-half performance despite losing but there were encouraging signs for their new manager.
