Archant

Passionate England fan Gary Wharf will be leading the songs tonight as he bangs his drum dressed in a St George’s outfit and with the cross painted on his face.

The self-employed painter and decorator will be watching tonight’s semi-final match at the Flintkanppers, Brandon, where he will start the chants - including favourites Three Lions and Vindaloo.

The 35-year-old’s house has been decked out with 12 England flags, bunting, and on match-days he hangs his England shirts in the windows.

And he has even booked the week off work should England win tonight and beat France on Sunday.

The first tournament Mr Wharf watched was when England lost on penalties to West Germany during the 1990 World Cup in Italy.

But he has every faith that Gareth Southgate’s team can go all the way this time.

“We can go all the way I am confident of that,” he said. “It has brought people together.”
