BRANDON Town lost to visitors Sprowston 1-0 in what was a poor game for spectators.

The gusting wind, particularly in the first half, made fluent football very difficult and it was always likely that chances were more likely to come from errors.

The Town front line looked totally out of sorts and the visitors' defence had a very easy first half. Sprowston went ahead when a rather tame free-kick by Jason Armes slipped under Corston in the Town goal. This saw Town show more urgency and Kent was denied by a good, low save from Still.

The wind eased slightly for the second half and overall the level of play was improved.

The visitors put early pressure on Town looking to kill the game off, Corston saved another Armes set-piece that he pushed onto

a post. Meanwhile the Town attackers showed more urgency although at times there was a reluctance to shoot when the opportunity arose.

As neither team deserved a great deal of praise, a good word for referee Mr Smith - who let the game flow when possible and ran the game with calm authority.

At present it is difficult to see where Town's next points will materialise.
