A near perfect evening weatherwise last Wednesday saw the first 10-mile time trial of the 2008 Cycling Club Breckland calendar of club events.Bobby De'ath's 24 minute 50 seconds ride set the tone beating Chris Nudds, his nearest rival, by 20 seconds and Geoff Muller another 14 seconds in arrears.

A near perfect evening weatherwise last Wednesday saw the first 10-mile time trial of the 2008 Cycling Club Breckland calendar of club events.

Bobby De'ath's 24 minute 50 seconds ride set the tone beating Chris Nudds, his nearest rival, by 20 seconds and Geoff Muller another 14 seconds in arrears.

The three youngsters contrasted well against the rest of the field with Adam Cross recording 27:27, Thomas Doe 28:34 and Emily Davis, in her first attempt at the distance, well pleased to finish in 34:20. Of the two tandems competing, Paul Hewitt and Paul Barbary, who regularly compete in disabled events, recorded 41:25 while Don Saunders and his 10-year-old grandson Declan Davis, had a trouble free ride this time, finishing in 31:07.

Other riders' times were: Ken Price 28:38, Myles Lubbock 29:00, Rodney Hobbs 29:41, Richard Walthew 30:20, Mark Fairhead 31:22 and Martin Badham 35:39.

Tonight's event will be staged over 10 miles on the North Tuddenham course.
