Last weekend members from Kumo Judo Club in Thetford fought in the Regional Judo Championships.

The last competitor was Ben Tippett who, after a tough fight in the under 60kg category, managed to hold onto the smallest of scores to win gold and the title of regional champion for the fifth year running.

The first group was for children aged eight to 11 and first up was Josh Tucker who won his first fight with the maximum score of ippon to put him in the final.

Unfortunately he lost to a more experienced player and had to settle for silver.

Next was Mason Nembhard who won two fights convincingly but lost the last to give him a silver medal.

Jordan Pradhan, in only his second competition, stormed through to the final winning three fights on the way. Jordan was caught by surprise and although he lost it was a good display from him.

Next to fight were the 12 to 16-year-olds. Charles Pettit won his first round fight easily and his next was for a place in the final. A very good throw from his opponent saw Charles lose and settle for a well-deserved bronze medal.

Ben, Mason and Charles were then selected to compete for Norfolk County Junior Team where they battled hard to win a silver medal.
