Husband and wife instructors Andy and Lynda Gillingwater of martial art Kuk Sool Won have had a student from all three of their clubs promoted to the rank of first degree black belt.

Husband and wife instructors Andy and Lynda Gillingwater of martial art Kuk Sool Won have had a student from all three of their clubs promoted to the rank of first degree black belt.

They are Richard Steel from Watton, Iona Norkett from Long Stratton, James Riley from Attleborough.

Students from these clubs entered the European Championships held at King's Lynn on May 30 and 31.

The following students won medals in the categories and rank: Aaron Mead, Darien Norkett, James Riley, Tom Reed, Donna Metcalf, Marion Moore and Kieran Partridge.

James Riley won five gold medals which earned him the title of European under black belt youth grand champion just hours before being promoted.

This follows James winning the UK under black belt youth grand champion title last November.
