Local Thetford firm Advantage Technologies who provide ICT solutions, support and cabling for firms across the UK, have given a major boost to Thetford's youth via a large sponsorship deal with grass-roots youth football outfit, Thetford Independents.

Simon Barnett, managing director, presented a cheque for £1000 to the co-managers of the new Indies team that will be playing U8s football next season, Dean Roberts and Matthew Try.

The deal will see Advantage Technologies sponsor the new U8 team for two seasons and will enable the squad to have full kit, training balls, cones, bibs and goals.

“Without this generous sponsorship, our new team, who have played a series of friendly games this season in which they have performed very well, would struggle to continue next year given the costs that are incurred by equipping and training such outfits,” said Try.

“Local grassroots youth football teams survive only thanks to the dedication and support of the local community and local businesses who rally round to provide the expertise and the finance to allow them to operate,” said co-manager Roberts.

Simon Barnett announced that Advantage Technologies were pleased to be providing opportunities for Thetford youngsters to develop their footballing skills and build on their fitness as part of the experienced set-up provided by Thetford Independents. “We look forward to seeing the team's progress over the next two years,” he said.

Thetford Independents U8 are looking for new team members to join for the 08/09 football season. Training takes place on the Admirals playing field every Saturday between 9.30 and 10.30am. Those interested in joining are welcome to go along to the training sessions.
