Thetford Town gave their Thurlow Nunn Premier Division survival hopes a huge boost on Saturday by beating fellow strugglers Woodbridge 2-1 at Mundford Road.
It was a hugely important win for Mark Scott’s side, with goals coming from Bruno Tavares and James Pipe, because their relegation rivals picked up points as well.
Diss remain a point and a place above the Brecklanders in the table thanks to an excellent 3-0 win at seventh-placed Haverhill.
Ely are just a point and a place below Thetford in the table, thanks to a 2-0 win at bottom-of-the-table Wivenhoe, which keeps Clacton in the relegation zone after a 1-1 home draw with Brantham.
It all looks set to be a close battle, with Thetford hoping Gorleston can do them a favour tonight when they host Clacton, who are three points behind Thetford with three games in hand.
