Thetford manager Danny White is aiming for a top 10 finish in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division after his team comfortably beat Haverhill Rovers away 5-0, putting them 12th in the table.

A hat-trick from Volta Rocha and goals from Ben Anderson and Andrew Wood secured the win.

White was delighted with the performance and is looking for his players to build on it.

“The win was excellent and thoroughly deserved,” he said.

“We had a goal disallowed, a blatant penalty that wasn’t given and a couple of good chances so the scoreline could have been greater. I think a top 10 finish is a realistic aim now although there are a few teams on similar points it will now be about consistency and going on a little run.”

Rocha continued his highly impressive form since returning to the club by scoring his second hat-trick in the last three games and his immediate impact has pleased White.

“Volta hasn’t surprised me,” he said. “I knew he was a good player and that once we got him in and he adapted to how we play he would express himself.”

With the transfer window shutting at the end of the month the Town boss admitted he is happy with the make-up of his squad going into the remainder of the campaign.

“We have no plans for new players as we hopefully have Johnny Conroy back training next week and still have Melanson, McIntosh, Clarke and Tavares to come back after missing the Haverhill game,” he explained.

Following the clean sheet White was quick to offer praise to goalkeeper Will Viner, who joined the club from Wroxham earlier this season.

“Will has been a massive signing for us,” he added. “The presence and confidence he has instilled into our defence has greatly helped us.”

Thetford return to Haverhill on Saturday to face the town’s other team, Haverhill Borough (3pm).

A busy March follows which includes home and away games against Histon, who were playing Conference football as recently as 2011, and a League Cup semi-final at home to Stanway Rovers on Tuesday, March 20. The next game at Mundford Road, against Histon, is on March 3.
