YOUNGSTERS from Thetford spent a fun-filled day taking part in various activities thanks to special funding.

The Little Yoof group meets once a week at Fulmerstone Church on the Barnham Cross Estate, where the children, between 10 and 14-years-old, earn points for good behaviour, regular attendance and assisting the group.

These they chose to put towards an adventure day out at Mile Bottom Scout site, where they were treated to a barbecue at the end of the day.

Terry Jermy, who co-ordinates the group on behalf of Thetford Community Association, said: “The behaviour of the young people on the day was exemplary.

“They were a credit to themselves and their community. It was so pleasing to see them enjoying their day out and taking part in activities they would not normally get the opportunity to do.”

Funding for the trip came from the Norfolk Community Foundation using funded provided by the Shadwell Estate.

Bev Townsend, South Norfolk Co-ordinator for BOOM who ran some of the activities on the day said: “It was great to see the young people enjoying the day so much.

“BOOM is about supporting young people and helping them to access services and opportunities that they may not otherwise be able to do.”
