CYCLISTS under the age of 16 will carry out a litter pick if they are caught on their bikes in Thetford's King Street.

The punishment falls into the restorative justice category and will allow the youngsters to make ammends for breaking the highway code.

Thetford PCSO Tasha Donnelly said: “We are setting the new rule for young cyclists to make the town centre safer for pedestrians. All cyclists must dismount in the town centre.”

If people over the age of 16 are caught cycling in the town centre they will be issued with a £30 fine.
