A warning has been sent to people set on getting drunk and causing trouble in Thetford over the festive season.Safer Neighbourhood Team acting sergeant Tom Stead warned that anyone found committing public order offences in town in the lead up to Christmas and New Year will be barred from every licensed premises in Thetford for at least six months.

Safer Neighbourhood Team acting sergeant Tom Stead warned that anyone found committing public order offences in town in the lead up to Christmas and New Year will be barred from every licensed premises in Thetford for at least six months.

He said: “We want people to enjoy a safe festive period and Thetford SNT and response officers will continue to take robust action against anyone being disorderly in public.”

In the last three weeks a large quantity on alcohol has been seized in the town from underage drinkers and people consuming alcohol within the designated public place (DPP).

The DPP is a non-drinking zone where alcohol cannot be drunk on the streets.

Three people have also been arrested for public order offences with one being charged and two given £80 fines.

In addition five trouble makers have been banned from all licensed premises is Thetford by the town Pubwatch scheme bringing the total for the year to 15.
