THETFORD'S Tom Paine 200 Celebrations came to a “triumphant” conclusion with a number of events attracting large audiences.
The community play Citizen of the World saw local people tell the story of Paine's life in 70 action-packed minutes of colourful theatre.
And earlier this month people gathered in Thetford's Forgotten Garden when Paine's biographer John Keane dedicated a liberty tree, an 18th century apple variety, to commemorate Paine and the celebrations.
Back in the town's Carnegie Room, Professor Keane gave the last of the series of well-supported academic lectures.
Organiser John Weeks said: “We are delighted with how the celebrations have gone, with the quality of the programme, the warmth of the town's response and the generosity of our sponsors who enabled us to mount so many and such affordable events.”
