Thetford and the surrounding area was left without power after a thunder storm caused a power cut.
Most of Thetford, Brandon, Santon Downham and other villages in the surrounding had the power switched off at around 5pm yesterday.
The cut took place just as a large thunder storm hit the town, which had caused flash flooding in other villages in Norfolk and Suffolk.
It provided an eerie atmosphere in Thetford’s King Street, with shops in darkness and shoppers pouring out into the streets in confusion, while alarms sounded.
The power was off for around 30 minutes, before returning in plenty of time for pubs to welcome in football fans for last night’s England vs Russia game.
