STAFF at a Thetford building society have clocked up more than 100 years of service between them.

The 10 strong team at the town's branch of Norwich and Peterborough include some staff who have been there for 20 years, while other have just completed their first year.

Earlier this month, customer adviser Sandra Giles celebrated 15 years' service with the company.

N&P first opened a branch in Thetford in Well Street in January 1973, when Edward Heath was Prime Minister, a gallon of petrol cost 35p and the average house price was 9,942.

Today, manager Frances Reeve and the rest of her team are at 16 King Street.

Ms Reeve said: “I couldn't believe it when we realised that between us we had 102 years' service with N&P. Some of us have been here at the branch for so long that, as well as knowing everything we need to know to provide a great service, we know our customers very well too. Some of them have been members of N&P longer than us!

“We are proud to have so much experience under one roof and will use it to the best of our ability to continue to provide our customers with the best possible customer service.”
