Thetford speedwatch team needs new members

A community speedwatch team is appealing for volunteers to keep the service running.
Thetford’s Community Speedwatch team launched in 2013, and has been carrying out patrols in speeding hotspots in the town since.
Despite launching with six members, the team now has three, with one of the members unavailable for the foreseeable future.
According to Margaret Rutter, volunteer, the group needs at least two people to carry out its hour-long patrols, and is desperate for new faces.
“My husband and I always go out, but our other member has some family commitments.
“We have been running for two and a half years and it would be a shame to see it dissolve,” she said.
Patrols have focused on Bury Road and Brandon Road since the scheme launch.
Results are recorded by the team and sent on to Norfolk Police via the Safety Camera Partnership. Drivers caught speeding multiple times will be sent a warning about their driving, and the area is flagged up to police for its own patrols.
To volunteer, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07903 654359.
