A community scheme which helps to make the roads safer is calling for more people to get involved.

The Community Speed Watch team in Thetford are seeking more volunteers to join them to help to continue to monitor the speed of vehicles.

Community Speed Watch is a national initiative which started 10 years ago.

Members of local communities join with the support of the police to monitor speeds of vehicles using speed detection devices.

If volunteers catch someone several times, speeders get a visit from a police officer.

The growth of Community Speed Watch since the first Norfolk trial in Hopton-on-Sea in 2007 has been huge.

There are now 734 volunteers in 70 groups across the county.

If anyone is interested in joining Community Speed Watch Thetford team, contact PC Amy Lucas at Thetford Police Station on 101 or email her at lucasa@norfolk.pnn.police.uk
