Students from the Prince's Trust XL Club at Rosemary Musker High School want to put together Christmas boxes for old people in the town to help them through the festive season.
The teenagers hope to give the boxes to the elderly when they tuck into a turkey lunch organised by Age Concern on Christmas Day.
Mark Keddie, from the youth development team at Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, which runs the Prince's Trust scheme, said the students were writing to local shops in Thetford and appealing for donations like tea bags, coffee, chocolates, biscuits, books, magazines and soap.
“The days after Christmas Day can be pretty dark for elderly people and these are some of the luxuries and provisions they might not buy if things are tough,” he said.
Donations can be taken to Thetford fire station, in Norwich Road.
