PUPILS in Thetford have danced their way to victory in the regional heats of a national competition.

PUPILS in Thetford have danced their way to victory in the regional heats of a national competition.

The Fancy Footwork team were taking part in Street Dance International in Peterborough last month, returning triumphant with 20 trophies, one cup and nine medals.

The dancers achieved five first places in their individual categories and the talented movers will now go through to the national final.

With more than 100 pupils at Fancy Footwork, this was the first time that dance teacher Kelly Eastwood had entered her pupils into the competition.

Tracy Eastwood, who helps with the club, said: “We didn't really know what to expect but even though the dancers were nervous about going, we had every confidence in them.

“It was a long and tiring day but they absolutely loved it and it gave them a real ego boost.”

The finals will be held in Croydon on July 21, where dancers will be selected to represent England in Bremen, Germany in October.

Peddars Way Housing Association came to Fancy Footwork's rescue by providing a sponsor for the coach trip, making a donation of more than £400 towards transport costs.

Meanwhile the group is still searching for a permanent venue - any advice or help would be gratefully received. Contact Tracy Eastwood on 07947 172788.
