THE weather may have been a let down, but the refurbished Charles Burrell Museum did not disappoint at its recent re-opening.

More than 400 people passed through the new bright and airy front entrance of the museum, in Minstergate, Thetford, to revel in the artefacts and new merchandise the museum has to offer in its new shop area.

A miniature steam rally, with more than 20 steam engines and 1,500 people, also chugged through the town.

Chairman of Friends of Charles Burrell Museum, Corinne Fulford, said: “It was a fantastic day and the refurbishment work went down. There is also a new soundtrack, which really brings the place to life.

“It's a great start to the season and the engines looked immaculate.”

Charles Burrell Museum is open every Tuesday between 10am and 2pm and the last Saturday of each month between 10am and 4pm. The museum is also looking for more volunteers and anyone interested should contact Corinne Fulford on 07802 701911.
