People living in Laburnum Grove housing, off Elm Road, held a fundraising event for the Help for Heroes charity, which included a successful attempt to kidnap Mayor Pam Spencer and hold out for the ransom money.
Initially planned as a small raffle, the event grew in size and a number of activities took place.
One member of staff raised 150 by shaving off all his hair another was made over into a punk madam, while one dyed her hair yellow and green.
Both men and women had their legs waxed in public, and a number of laser gun battles took place.
Highlight of the day however was three desperados dressed in military uniforms who kidnapped Ms Spencer.
