A family-friendly interactive storytelling session about the life of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh will take place at Thetford Library.

On Friday, February 16 storyteller Seema Anand will captivate audiences as she recounts the life of the Maharaja and the Koh-i-noor diamond before it became part of the Crown Jewels.

The diamond had many keepers, including the young Maharaja Duleep Singh - the son of Ranjit - who was the last king of the Punjab and owned the Elveden Estate.

The talk will allow people to learn more about the empire, war, how the diamond came to be set in Queen Victoria’s crown and Duleep Singh’s story.

The event will take place between 10.30am and 11.30am.

It is free but booking is essential.

Places can be booked at the Leaping Hare on King’s Street in Thetford or on the website. For more information visit Thetford Library on Facebook.
