THETFORD was an array of colour as scores of balloons were released in aid of the Help for Heroes charity and to celebrate the longevity of a nearby firm.
Metcalf Copeman and Pettefar Solicitors was established in 1784 and to mark its 225 birthday the company organised a number of competitions and events throughout its offices in Thetford, as well as King's Lynn, Wisbech and Peterborough.
All money raised from the balloon race in Thetford was donated to the Help for Heroes Charity which offers support for wounded servicemen and women.
Managing partner Andrew Davies, based at the offices on Cage Lane in Thetford, said: “In the midst of all the struggles of the last 18 months it is very satisfying to be celebrating something positive and at the same time raising funds for a deserving charity.
“MCP has been in practice longer than Marks and Spencer or Woolworths and unlike the latter continues to do so.”
He added: “We regularly raise funds for local charities and chose Help for Heroes as we have close connections with the armed forces, being near to various bases, such as RAF Honington.
