A new group has been launched to support disabled people and their carers.

Thetford Independent Living Group, based at the Charles Burrell Centre (CBC), was formed for people in the town and the surrounding area.

The group is run for and by disabled people and their carers to offer peer support, and people can raise and highlight local issues that affect disabled people.

Tom Fadden, community engagement coordinator at CBC, said: “I was aware there was a lack of support networks for people with disabilities in Thetford and the surrounding areas.”

Mr Fadden said the peer support model can provide help and a way for people to share information and support each other.

The next meeting of the group is on Wednesday, March 14 from 10am until 11.30am at the centre.
