Thetford group launched to help people back into work

PUBLISHED: 13:00 08 December 2011

A new work club has been launched in a bid to support people back into the workplace in Thetford and the surrounding area.

The launch of the Keystone Development Trust scheme saw more than 30 people attend with eight new clients signing up. It was also visited by South West Norfolk MP Elizabeth Truss.

New funding from the Breckland Local Strategic Partnership enabled Keystone to build on previous work club pilot projects.

Senior community support worker at Keystone, Mandie Patterson, said: “Seeing so many people come along shows that there’s a need for this type of service and I am particularly proud of the effort that clients, staff and volunteers have put into making the work clubs a success.

“We want to help as many people as possible through this project and encourage anyone, whether employed and wanting to gain further skills or currently not in employment, education or training, to come along and see what it’s all about.”

The programme will continue to offer support with CV building, job searching and letter writing, as well as finding out more about other volunteering and practical opportunities.

The work clubs will run at a number of locations in the Breckland area and will be phased across Thetford, starting with a regular drop in every Thursday at The Limes, 32 Bridge Street, between 10am and 1pm.
