Thetford Forest removes play equipment after safety fears

A beloved piece of playground equipment that has sat in Thetford Forest for more than 15 years is being removed after it came to the “end of its life”.

Forestry England has made the decision to remove the large wooden stag at Lynford Stag car park after a survey of all play areas.

It said the decision came after the study revealed it had come to the "end of its life". It will be recycled before it becomes dangerous.

It added: "The structure has been installed for more than 15 years and has undergone numerous repairs to prolong its life span. The recent survey has identified changes to the main supporting structures making the repair not viable.

"At this present time there are no plans to replace it."

Forestry England has highlighted that visitors can still play at Lynford Stag and more equipment can be found at High Lodge.
