A YOUNG football team has begun work to expand its home and is appealing for businesses to offer a helping hand.
The Thetford Independents Football Club has outgrown its home at the Thetford rugby club but has now been given a new area for further pitches and changes rooms.
With the help of five volunteers from the under 13 team work began on clearing shrubbery to gain access to what was the caf, kitchen and toilets of the old wildlife facilities on the Kilverstone Estate.
The young workmen, Luke Chappell, Ty Whitby, Alex McIntosh, Tom Mason and Callum Crabb, who worked under the supervision of club chairman, David Skipp, enjoyed a busy Saturday afternoon working on their new home.
But with further work needed to provide electrics, plumbing and a kitchen area, support from local businesses is needed to make the planned extension a success.
It is hoped the work will be completed by summer next year and the club would like to thank Centurion, Pearsons and Roots and Routes which provided tools, free skip hire and health and safety equipment.
