New staff members welcomed as community hub launches project to help unemployed

The launch of a project to help tackle unemployment in Thetford has seen the opening of a new training hub.
The Charles Burrell Centre received a £43,000 grant from the Local Investment in Future Talent (LIFT) to help support 80 people to into employment over a two years period.

The Full Steam Ahead project has also received match funding of £20,000 from Breckland Council with the centre raising a further £23,000 to ensure the project is delivered successfully.
In addition to the opening of the hub, two new employment positions have been created.
Lyn Keane has joined as the project coordinator and Julie Smith as an administrator.

Charles Burrell Centre chief operations officer Mark Snowdon described the project as “an exciting development which will target those that are facing numerous barriers when it comes to finding employment”.
