A GROUP of youngsters were “evacuated” from a Thetford primary school to spend the day designing scenery for a play.
Six students from the Bishops Church of England Primary School in Canterbury Way built scenes depicting a bombed street scene as part of the school's production about evacuees.
The students, Chloe, Alice, Lyle, Jodie, Chloe and Lauren, were supported by students and staff at the Zone for Learning's (ZFL) construction centre in the town where they spent the day creating the artwork.
Carl Clark, outreach worker at ZFL said: “It's brilliant that we can team up together and share in giving the children a positive experience and teaching them new skills at the same time and I hope we can work together in the future.”
Area behaviour officer Cathy Ladbroke was on hand to present certificates to the students and said: “It's brilliant for students at Elm Road Centre to have the opportunity to work with other members of the community on projects which benefit others.
“Projects like this one allow them to show what good role models they can be for younger students.”
