Car wash raises hundreds for charity

More than £200 was raised by those who took part in a charity car wash at a fire station.

The event saw members of the Breckland Youth Council, Princes Trust Team programme and Thetford firefighters roll up their sleeves to tackle more than 30 vehicles.

Youth Council ambassador Alistair Wright and councillors Stuart Green, Nigel Wilkin, Carl Clark and Terry Jermy showed up on the day to offer support and have their cars washed.

In total, £268.63 was raised, which will be shared between Radio Hearts appeal supporting Childline and the fire-fighters charity.

Breckland youth councillor, Aaron Protheroe, said: “The day was fun if a little wet, we got to use a pressure washer on the cars which was a real fun part.

“We think it’s important for young people to have a say and ensure their voices are heard, whoever they are and wherever they’re from.

“We can all make a difference and support children and young people all over the country that may have nowhere else to turn. Initiatives like this are a great way to raise money to help and also have some fun along the way.”
