Thetford Bulldogs Football Club organised a challenge over the weekend, on November 30, which saw their players, aged seven to 15, storm the aisles of Tesco's Kilverstone store, from 8am to 10pm, to see how much they could buy for £5.

The event was organised by Michael Richardson, operations officer and coach at the club, who said it was to teach the kids about the value of money while giving back to the community.

Altogether, the group of 30 youngsters gathered around 300 items of food, which was then taken to the Benjamin Foundation in Thetford which supports young adults facing homelessness.

Mr Richardson said: "All the lads were aiming to get as much as possible for as little as possible.

"A lot of parents were saying it was really beneficial for their kids to learn value money and the majority of them have roofs over their heads and warm meals in their tummies but unfortunately, especially close to Christmas, there out people out there who aren't as lucky as they are."
