Generous primary school pupils have made sure that those less fortunate than them will get at least one Christmas present this year.

Students at Edmund de Moundeford Primary School, in Feltwell, stuffed shoeboxes with everything from toothbrushes to toys, photographs, letters, books and more for a Samaritan’s appeal.

Once full of goodies, the boxes were brightly decorated by the children and wrapped in Christmas paper.

The jam-packed boxes will now make their way to Swaziland in south eastern Africa and be distributed to children.

Jackie Palmer, teaching assistant, said the students had embraced the charitable scheme.

“It’s a pleasure to know that other children are getting at least one present this year and I think the children all realise that.

“We’ve had people come in and talk to the pupils about the siginificance of what they are doing and that has given them the chance to not only learn about being generous and another culture, but also about the fact that there are people in the world who aren’t as lucky as they are,” she said.

The 21 shoeboxes were picked up on Monday evening, ready to be shipped.
