A new service which offers help and support to people who have communication difficulties (aphasia) after suffering a stroke is appealing for volunteer drivers from the Thetford area to take members to weekly group meetings in Bury St Edmunds.
A new service which offers help and support to people who have communication difficulties (aphasia) after suffering a stroke is appealing for volunteer drivers from the Thetford area to take members to weekly group meetings in Bury St Edmunds.
The group meets every Tuesday from 10am-12noon at the St Johns Centre, St Johns Street in Bury.
Peter Rose, East of England regional manager for The Stroke Association said: “Losing the ability to speak or understand is both frightening and frustrating and it affects around one third of stroke survivors. Volunteering for The Stroke Association can be tremendously rewarding for both volunteers and the clients whom they help, and we would like to encourage anyone with a little time to spare to get in touch for an informal chat to find out more.”
