A GROUP of workers from Thetford will slip into their trainers in a bid to raise as much money as possible for charity.

Staff from three of the regions' Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P) branches will join forces to raise money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (Each) by taking part in the EDP Ride for Life.

Customer adviser at the building society's Diss branch, Becky Goldring, took part in last year's event and decided to repeat it annually.

She, along with a group of eight colleagues from N&P's Diss, Thetford and Southwold branches, will take part on Sunday, May 16.

The group have decided to walk the nine-mile route together rather than cycling, and are expecting to complete it within three hours.

Ms Goldring said: “It should be a really great day out, especially if the weather is kind to us.

“Each is N&P's staff charity, so the fact that this event is so close to our branches fits perfectly, and we are delighted to be a part of it all.

“It's such a brilliant feeling being amongst so many other people who are all there for the same important reason, to help raise as much money for Each as possible.

“We are really looking forward to taking part as a team, some of us are taking our partners along too, so there should be a really good crowd of us to keep the chatter going on the walk.”

Hundreds of people are expecting to turn out for the EDP-sponsored event, which is being held at Santon Downham, Thetford Forest.

The money raised from the event will go towards helping to support children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, who use the Each hospices in Ipswich, Cambridge and Quidenham.
