Special service pays tribute to the memory of loved ones
A POIGNANT service of remembrance which allows people to dedicate a light on a Christmas tree in memory of a loved one will be held next month.
St Nicholas Hospice Care has organised the Light up a Life Service and a special Songs of Praise service to coincide with St Nicholas Day on December 6.
Although the two services are held in Bury St Edmunds, Hospice Chaplain Charles Amoah said the special event was very much open to anyone in West Suffolk and Thetford.

The Songs of Praise will be held at St Mary's Church, Bury, followed by a candlelit walk to Angel Hill for the Light up a Life ceremony where those being remembered will have their names read out.
Charles said: “In the busy hustle and bustle of the festive season, we invite you to take time to celebrate and worship before dedicating a light on the Christmas tree in memory of someone you love.

“At the same time we give you the opportunity to support St Nicholas Hospice Care.
“We would welcome all readers of the Thetford and Brandon Times who have supported us so generously throughout the year with the Community Nurse Appeal and beyond.”
Anyone who cannot attend the Songs of Praise service at 6pm can still join the Light up a Life service on Angel Hill which will begin at 7.30pm.
There is also an opportunity to light a virtual candle in memory of a loved one by visiting the Hospice website www.stnicholashospice.org.uk
There is no charge for lighting either a light on the Christmas tree or a virtual candle, but people who would like to are asked to make a donation to the Hospice.
